What a fun day! Jann Arden kicked it off for us in her usual no-nonsense, direct and honest style. The weather was perfect for some painting, I had so many lovely visitors! And at the end of the day, my painting was auctioned to support Enviros Wilderness Association. In particular, people's donations are supporting youth as they transition into adulthood. No easy feat for teens who have often grown up with lots of disadvantages. Thank you to my amazing new collectors. The look on our faces says it all!
"Gustav's Garden" was inspired by my love of sunflowers, wandering my community gardens taking pictures, and the gardens painted by Gustav Klimt. It is 16"x20" acrylic, featured in this beautiful bronze frame. Sunflowers are such a wonderful symbol of strength to me, so they are the perfect flower to represent the kind of courage it takes to fight ovarian cancer.
I am proud that it will be part of the Ovarian Cancer Canada's online auction, coming up on June 21, 2021, and I will post the link to the auction once it is announced!
I admit I did not know what a diversion mural was until I was approached by a group to help teach some skills around a project they recently took on. Often in dementia units in seniors' facilities, people will look for ways to exit the unit. Residents might congregate around elevator doors or exits in an attempt to leave. As you can imagine, the results could be someone getting hurt on getting lost. This gathering around doors can be anxiety provoking for other residents as well.
Watch for my art coming soon to PH3 Salon on 17th Avenue SW!!
I will be out on October 19, 2019 hanging mountains, mountains, and more mountains.
You can stop by to browse and say hi to my lovely hairstylist too!
One of the many paintings I will have for sale at the next Foothills Art club Show and Sale.
Come out on Saturday October 12 to Cochrane! St. David's United Church.
